Speaking out against abuse
It really bothers me that there are people that are actually sympathizing to Chris Brown. Yes, I'm writing about Chris Brown.
I taught a women's self defense class a while back and I took a lot of women's studies courses. It's really important to me that women know their self worth. There are so many of us out there that are victimized, sexually and physically abused, and made to feel like we are nothing but objects.
We are more than just a face, an ass, or boobs. So when I heard that Chris Brown beat up Rihanna, and my little 16 year old sister, was taking Chris Brown's side, I was infuriated. At first I thought there was something seriously wrong with the way we raised her. To think a man could beat a woman like a rag doll and think that it is okay for him to do it. But, then she told me all her friends think Rihanna is a slut and she deserved to be "fucked up".
Can you believe that shit?
Something is wrong with society and our young generation for them to feel that it is okay for a man to beat up a woman. Did we forget the obstacles that women around the world faced so we can get a little bit of rights like: voting, rights to choose, and equal opportunity at jobs? It always amazes me how uneducated some of our youth are.
Women are still raped, beaten, kidnapped, and forced into slavery to this day. Just because we live in a country where "these things don't happen": THEY DO. They also happen around the world. Every single day.
Now, do you still think its okay for Chris Brown to get away with beating up a woman? Just because he's a celebrity or "he must have reasons for it".
Don't give me that bullshit. I learned a long time ago...that my self respect and dignity is worth much more than anything. I hope Rihanna and other young women around the world know this too.
